Development projects

T3, Tropical Tuna Treatment (R package). The multi-species nature of the tropical tuna surface fisheries gives rise to a series of difficulties when estimating catch by species and catch by size statistics. The Tropical Tuna Processor was constructed about 30 years ago to correct for biases in logbook data on species composition and to provide more accurate estimates of catch by species for the purse seine fleet.

Furdeb, FUnctions for R DEvelopment and Beyond! (R package). The aim of this package is to provide a set of functions and standardised processes in multiple domains such as database manipulation, geostatistics and data manipulation.

Acdc, Automatic Compliance for Data Calls (R package). This R package provides processes to support the production of data calls. These processes include extractions and links from the Ob7 (Observatory of Tropical Pelagic Ecosystems) databases, quality checks, descriptive analysis and data design.

Codama, Common prOcesses for Data quAlity Monitoring (R package). This package aims to provide a set of standardised and generic control processes for the assessment and monitoring of data quality.

Fishi, FISHeries Indicators (R package). This package aims to provide standardised exploratory and descriptive processes for fisheries-related data.

European projects and contributions

Implication in the Regional Coordination Groups (RCGs). These groups are the main hub for regional coordination and cooperation within the different regions contributing to the fisheries Data Collection Framework. They also make efforts to coordinate their actions with third countries having sovereignty or jurisdiction over waters in the same marine region. In accordance to the Regulation (EC) 2017/1004, RCGs should aim at developing and implementing procedures, methods, quality assurance and quality control for collecting and processing data with a view to enabling reliability of scientific advice to be further improved. RCGs consist of experts appointed by Member States, including MS’ national correspondents for data collection, and the Commission.
Chairing of the RCG Large Pelagics from 2020 to 2021 and now chair of the intersessional subgroups Regional Database Development.
